Topnaar
PEOPLE OF NAMIBIA
Growing up Topnaar means belonging to two different worlds: an ancient culture and modern Africa.

2,000 native Topnaars still exist with an officially-recognized chief. Only 500 remain in the Namib Desert.

And, though our hearts still lie with the Topnaar, we have opened our arms to include other deserving Namibian young people.

Lora
Meet Lora. She has been in our Gava Kids program since she was a tiny, shy first-grader.  Lora is now an elegant young lady attending a vocational chef’s program.  Her school is located along the far, western edge of the Namib Desert.
